Nas Sits In With The Roots, Drops 'Illmatic' Gems Between Takes On The Tonight Show
Nas snuck himself into the cut on The Tonight Show to drop gems between takes with The Roots in tow. Taking some time off from the press cycle for Time Is Illmatic (which just received a selective national release) Nasty lays low, but makes sure he's heard, starting off the show with a quick run of "New York State Of Mind" and taking folks in and out of the commercial break with "Represent;" a proper treatment of some of the classic's standouts.
While this certainly isn't "The World Is Yours" takeover of Fallon's late-night program with Q-Tip as co-pilot that we were treated to back in May or even that epic appearance at Radio City for Dave Chappelle's record breaking eleven night run, but it is, however, the perfect opportunity to catch some candid cadence from our favorite Queens bomber and The Legendary. Time Is Illmatic opens in select cities Friday, but you can get your copy of the album's chronicle today via iTunes. Head over to Tribeca for more info on the theatrical release and watch as Nas submerges himself in the cut, sitting-in with The Roots on The Tonight Show below.
