Lykke Li Releases "No One Ever Loved" For 'The Fault In Our Stars' Soundtrack

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

Lykke Li had no problem lending her voice to The Fault In Our Stars soundtrack with the track "No One Ever Loved" which is sure to pull on some heartstrings. The film is adapted from John Green's page turner with the same title and focuses on Hazel (Shailene Woodley), who is terminally ill and Augustus (Ansel Elgort), two unconventional teenagers who fall in love after meeting at a cancer support group. Star-crossed love is a theme Lykke Li explored on her third studio album 'I Never Learn' which was released this month. The track is an appropriate fit for Green's story which will be taken to the big screen June 6th.

The songs we've heard off the soundtrack so far have been poppy teenage tear-jerkers but as usual Lykke Li adds a sense of emotional and sonic depth to the mix. The song features Li's love lost poetics (which you can find on her tumblr) with lines like "You're the diamond in the gutter/You're the hole inside my heart/You're the one I will remember every night/Before the dawn meets the light." This is pristine timing on Lykke Li's part, the track fits right in with the sound and feel of 'I Never Learn' and we wouldn't surprised if listeners took the liberty to loop it in as a bonus track. The Fault In Our Stars soundtrack will be out on Atlantic May 19th - 'til then, stream Lykke Li's "No One Ever Loved" and check out the track list below.
