As if a biopic treatment of James Brown's immeasurable endowment to our tradition wasn't enough, it appears we'll soon be getting some rare audible treats to compliment Papa's new face in the quickly approaching release of Get On Up. The OST of this monumental retelling of The Godfather's tale will apparently feature a compilation of both live takes and studio sessions from the golden year of the JBs, plus 5 reworked tracks from The Underdogsputting their flip on funk's roots.

Though you'll have to wait for the soundtrack to drop on July 29th for the full script, below you can preview a full live cut of Mr. Dynamite plowing through a rendition of "Its's A Man's Man's Man's World"; that anthem of unmistakeable misogyny, which has become a litmus test for powerhouse voices despite it's pro-man (man, man) sentiment. Preorder your copy of the soundtrack via Amazon today. Get On Up hits the silver screen August 1st, starring Chadwick Boseman as The Godfather himself, Dan Aykroyd as longtime manager Ben BartCraig Robinson as the might Maceo Parker and our very own Tariq "Black Thought" Trotter as the legendary Pee Wee Ellis
