With the late J Dilla's long-lost vocal album, The Diary, arriving imminently, anticipation is at sky-scraping levels. It's a record that was recorded in 2001, discovered on 2-inch tape just after the man's death in 2006, and then completed just last year with the aid of some heavy-hitting colleagues and proteges (Madlib, Karriem Riggins, Pete Rock,Bilal, House Shoes and the whole damn crew were tapped.)
But the most curious component to this near 15-year-long roll-out has to be the fact thatNaS'Mass Appeal Records will be . That said, if it opens the door to the Queensbridge sharing the posthumous mic with Jay Dee on the only singular exhibition of his mad-rapping self, we're not mad. Last night, at Mass Appeal's Live At The BBQ party in Austin, Nasir pulled the veil off precisely that collaboration. Unfortunately, the only evidence of this is a clip from the event that has criminally-terrible audio quality. But yes, a Nas x Jaylib collaboration exists and will be properly showcased on The Diary upon it April 15th release. You can watch the clip below.
