The memoir, The Beautiful Ones, is out today.

Prince wasn't much of a fan of Katy Perry or Ed Sheeran's music, according to the recently-released memoir, The Beautiful Ones.

While speaking with the Guardian, Dan Piepenbring, the co-author of the memoir, detailed parts of the book including everything from cartoons drawn by the late artist to quotes about his childhood. Piepenbring also shared a quote the Purple Rain guitarist offered on the state of contemporary music in the United States and how pop radio aids in keeping artists like Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran popular.

"We need to tell them that they keep trying to ram Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran down our throats and we don't like it no matter how many times they play it," the quote reads.

Piepenbring was enlisted by Prince in 2016 to work on the memoir, and the two spent three months conducting interviews before he died.

"I've had dreams about Prince, where he's still alive and his death was just a widely misreported thing," he told the Guardian. "I'm still reluctant to handle those memories. They're almost like something in a vitrine: the more you look, the more you get hot breath and fingerprints on the glass. Suddenly this very pure thing is smudged and you can never see it as clearly again."
