As we continue the countdown towards De La Soul‘s new album And The Anonymous Nobody, we’re learning that the Daisy Age trio has plenty more in store for us, even beyond the release of their new piece. In a new interview with The Guardian, Posdnuos delved into the group’s choice in releasing the album as a crowdfunded piece via Kickstarter, and shed light on some future projects, particularly their contribution to Damon Albarn’s new Gorillaz album, currently slated for a 2017 release (though it could drop even earlier than that, according to Albarn’s recent musings.)
Pos reveals that not only has De La been tapped for the project, but Snoop Dogg will be lending his voice as well. That east-west connection proved to be a formidable one on De La’s summer single “Pain.” No word on whether we should expect round 2, but this is certainly promising. It’s also worth noting that Pos has heard selections from the new Gorillaz album, claiming that “it sounds amazing.” You can read an excerpt from the interview down below, but for the full script, refer to the interview by hitting the link. De La Soul’s And The Anonymous Nobody arrives next Friday, August 26th. Pre-order your copy on iTunes today.
“With Damon, it was easy because we love working with him. We’re about to be on the new Gorillaz album. Snoop was also performing on the record when we were over there. He pulled us to the side and said: “Hey man, we’ve never worked together, can we get this going?” Usually the lawyers will say: “You can pay this artist or maybe we can swap?” and then it goes from there.”
