Video Premiere: Chuck Brown - "A Beautiful Life"
Last month we had the honor and privilege of announcing the posthumous release of Chuck Brown's A Beautiful Life LP, but the go-go godfather still has plenty up those satin sleeves even from beyond the grave. Today we get to introduce the world to a new clip for the title-track of that fine tributary release, containing what might have been some of the last footage of the legend's hulking humility, grinning ear to ear as he mixes it up in his old DC stomping grounds with all of the folks he's touched over the years.
The updated take on the pioneer's patented percussive groove finds a pleasant and shine-filled visual to accompany the bright synths and infectious bounce that runs through his catalogue like a funk-flecked bloodline. A Beautiful Life dropped just a few weeks back, compiling Brown's final recordings, as well as some reworked fan-favorites into one proper homage to his influence and legacy.
