Bishop Nehru Shares Two New Cuts Off His Upcoming 'Nehruvia' EP
Bishop Nehru may still be counting down the days to his 19th birthday, but the prodigious New York rapper has already logged some startling achievements, including opening up for the Wu-Tang Clan and releasing a full-length with beatmaker mastermind MF Doom. He's about to add both an EP and LP release to that list of exploits, with the 8 track Nehruvia: The Nehruvian EP due up first on May 11th. The world got a sampling of what's in store on that release in the form of two brand new tracks--a swirling Pete Rock-channeling number entitled "Harmony in a Glass" and the equally spacious track "Breath (Prana/$pirit)."
The two cuts serve as a progress report for Bishop Nehru, who continues to push his skills as an MC ahead of the curve. "Breath" especially investigates the contradictions between focusing on one's own breath and how yogic exercises can lead to both enlightenment and self-centered mistakes. Both tracks premiered over at FADER, and Bishop Nehru told the magazine that Nehruvia: The Nehruvian is an amalgam of joints "just too raw sonically" for his on-the-horizon LP, which will reportedly be executive produced by Nas (deep breaths now). For now, enjoy "Harmony in a Glass" and "Breath (Prana/$pirit)" and stay tuned for Nehruvian nehws.
