If you caught 9th Wonder‘s clinic on Rhythm Roulette all those months ago, you know damn-well that there’s an unrivaled method to his madness. An underlying and innate intuition — that feel — underscore each and every chop, whether it be an 8-bar or 1/8th bar snag.
Tonight, 9th, no stranger to the classroom, will be joined by Jamla‘s production team, The Soul Council, in helping to shape the bright, young beats of our future, hosting a sampling master class at The University Of Pennsylvania’s Annenberg School For Communication, where he and the whole squad will deliver lectures on just how they gets those cuts to line-up. The lecture will be free to the public, though attendees will have to register (link below.) The class will be but the latest academic suite from the master beatsman, having served as a Harvard professor just a few years back, which was captured pristinely in the documentary, The Hip-Hop Fellow.
So if you’re free tonight at 6PM and happen to find yourself strolling along UPenn’s campus, make sure you sit-in and get fed. 9th Wonder is that dude.
