This battle follows Scott Storch and Mannie Fresh’s producer competition that took place late yesterday evening.
T-Pain and Lil Jon, two Southern music legends will battle it out on Instagram Live this weekend. This newly announced competition will follow Scott Storch and Mannie Fresh’s battle which took place late yesterday evening.
The Tallahassee-bred singer-producer was previously set to be included in the Storch battle, yet Mannie was swapped to replace him. To be completely transparent, Lil Jon is definitely a better match for him, mainly because they’re both from the South, T-Pain (Florida), Lil Jon (Georgia).
For years, T-Pain has been a star in the industry due to his knack for creating catchy singles. There was one point of his career where he was experiencing immense success, during that energetic run he became known for introducing Auto-tune to the industry at large. A few of his biggest songs include the following Billboard chart-topping singles “Shawty” by Plies, “I’m ‘n Luv (wit w Stripper)” featuring Mike Jones and “Bartender.” He’s also credited as a songwriter on Kanye West’s “Robocop.”
On the other end of the spectrum, Lil Jon, a rapper-producer is viewed as a leader for the crunk movement that originated in the South. His group Lil Jon & The Eastside Boyz was also instrumental in bringing the sound to the mainstream. A few of his biggest hits include “Goodies” by Ciara, “Freek-a-Leek” by Petey Pablo and “Yeah!” by Usher featuring Lil Jon and Ludacris. Each of these tracks were on the Billboard Hot 100 chart upon release.
Tidal’s Elliot Wilson tweeted an official flyer sharing that the battle would be slated for Saturday, April 4 at 9 p.m. EST. The flyer also noted that the duo would be playing 20 of their biggest tracks over time.
