Pre-Order The First-Ever Pressing of 'Jay Dee's Ma Dukes Collection' on Vinyl

One of J Dilla's finest posthumous beat collections is headed to wax

Don't look now, but the world is now ripe with previously unreleased material from the late J Dilla. New-to-you surprise beat tape releases have been a regular occurrence since the producer's passing in 2006, perhaps particularly so in just the last few years with five or six surprise releases arriving on streaming platforms without any notice.

Some have the estate stamp, others bare no affiliation whatsoever, but it all just speaks to just how difficult it is to appease a fan base that is equally insatiable and protective over a rare legacy in music.

But the best takeaway, no matter your stance on the estate's dealings, has been the pressing of nearly the entire posthumous catalog to vinyl; a warmth and depth of sound that Dilla's touch demands. The afterlife archive's crown was 2016's Jay Dee's Ma Dukes Collection, a 15-track instrumental tape of cuts hand-picked by Ma Dukes.

Today, we're happy to announce that the Ma Dukes Collection will be available to pre-order on vinyl via The Okayplayer Shop ahead of its official June 23rd drop. Add it to your shelf today by hitting the link below and hold tight for the imminent arrival of yet another.
