Nas Continues Late Career Hot Streak with 'King's Disease III'

Less than one year after releasing his fifteenth album Magic, Nas returns with King's Disease III, co-executive produced by Hit-Boy.

Nas returns with new Hit-Boy-produced album King's Disease III. Featuring 17 tracks, the album marks the third installment of the King's Disease series, which began in 2020. Last December, Nas released his fifteenth album Magic, also produced by Hit-Boy.

On third KD3 track "Thun," Nas references his past conflict with JAY-Z, admitting he occasionally texts Hov joking about how their rivalry “ain’t over.”

“No beef or rivals, they playing ‘Ether’ on TIDAL / Brothers can do anything when they decide to / In a Range Rover, dissecting bars from ‘Takeover’ / Sometimes I text Hova like, ‘N-gga, this ain’t over,’ laughing,” he raps.

The two feuded in the early aughts with diss tracks "Takeover," "Ether," "Supa Ugly" and "Last Real N**** Alive" before calling a truce during Hov’s I Declare War Tour stop in New Jersey in 2005. The two have since been collaborators, most recently on DJ Khaled's 2021 single "Sorry Not Sorry" with James Fauntleroy.

Also that year, Nas won his first Grammy Award for Best Rap Album (King's Disease), later telling i-D that he was "honored" by the Recording Academy accolade.

"It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been around, it doesn’t matter what people think or thought, do what you’re doing, keep doing what you’re doing, and somebody’s going to recognise it," he said. "It doesn’t always have to be an award show, but the universe recognises it. And that works for me."
