We can all thank Mariah Carey for giving us the first meme of 2018.

Mariah Carey kicked off the new year with her annual return to "Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest.”

When host Seacrest asked Carey how she was feeling after her performance, she responded "Oh, I’m feeling a lot better than last year.”

Last year, Carey endured technical difficulties on stage during her live performance, causing a firestorm of criticism for her live performance skills. This year, she graced the stage without any glitches in what people are calling a redeeming holiday comeback.

Donning all white, Carey hit the stage and started her performance with the 1990 hit "Vision of Love.” Before starting her second song "Hero," she made one request:

"Happy New Year! Just want to take a sip of tea if they’ll let me. They told me there would be tea. Oh! It’s a disaster,” she told the audience. “OK. Well, we’ll just have to rough it. I’m going to be just like everybody else with no hot tea. But we’re going to try and do this one for you."

After she pushed through and finished her set sans-bev and mishaps, Seacrest declared, "And that is why she is Mariah Carey."

Later on in the night, Mariah posted a photo to Twitter of her sipping her  tea, leading us into an impromptu inauguration of 2018’s first meme.

We love a hydrated, celebratory legend.
