J. Cole has broken streaming records with his recently-released album, KOD.
STREAM: J. Cole's New Surprise 12-Track Album 'KOD'
The fifth album from the Fayetteville, North Carolina, rapper, KOD broke Apple Music's record for streams in the first 24 hours in the United States with 64.5 million streams on its first day. The project surpassed Drake's Views — the previous record holder for Apple Music — by nearly 1 million streams, with seven out of the top 10 most streamed songs in a 24-hour period on the streaming service from KOD. It also broke the record for most first-day streams in the U.S. for an album on Spotify, according to a report from The Verge.

KOD was released on Friday. The 12-track album is the follow-up to 2016's 4 Ur Eyez Only. Prior to the album's release, J. Cole held pop-up shows in New York City and London while explaining the intentions behind the project's abbreviations which have three meanings: "Kidz On Drugz," "King Overdose," and "Kill Our Demons."
