Lil Wayne had thoughts about the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, and he made them clear on social media. The hip-hop superstar dropped Tha Carter VI back in June 2025, but the album garnered no Grammy nominations. It was something Wayne complained about on X (formerly Twitter).

“Congrats to the nominees and winners,” he wrote. “Wasnt included. As usual. I gotta work harder. As usual. One time for my slime Bill Beli.”

Weezy is a five time Grammy winner who has been nominated almost 30 times in total for his albums, singles, videos and collaborations. In particular, Wayne won several awards in 2008, including Best Rap Album for Tha Carter III and Best Rap Song for "Lollipop." He again won in 2018 alongside Chance the Rapper when their song "No Problem" took Best Rap Performance.

Wayne references former NFL and current University of North Carolina football coach Bill Belichick. The man who coached the New England Patriots to six Super Bowl wins was not voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame last week. Denying the coaching legend a first ballot induction has been widely interpreted as an egregious snub. It’s something Wayne evokes in his tweet, seemingly comparing Belichick’s Hall of Fame denial to his own lack of nominations at the 2026 Grammys.

Tha Carter VI was a major release last year; featuring high-profile collaborations with artists like Jelly Roll, 2 Chainz, and Kodak Black. Despite it not receiving Grammy recognition, Wayne himself was up for an award during Sunday (Feb. 1) nights award show.

Lil Wayne was nominated for Best Rap Song for his verse on Tyler, the Creator's "Sticky.” They lost to Kendrick Lamar and Lefty Gunplay’s “tv off.”
