Beyoncé Becomes Sole Owner of Her Whisky Brand

The singer co-launched SirDavis American Whisky back in 2024, named after her great-grandfather.

Maya Magarita and Beyoncé attend the SirDavis American Whisky Launch Party at Hôtel Plaza Athénée on September 23, 2024 in Paris, France.

Beyoncé is now the sole owner of whisky brand SirDavis American Whisky. Moët Hennessy has sold its share in SirDavis to Knowles-Carter, two years after co-launching the whisky brand, according to a report from Drinks Intel

SirDavis issued a short statement.

“SirDavis starts its new independent chapter, after a nearly four-year transformative collaboration through creation, development and launch. Knowles-Carter… takes full ownership and control, making SirDavis a woman, family and Black-owned company. She builds on the tradition of creating and running her companies, built from the ground up.”

Financial details of the deal were not immediately available.

SirDavis debuted in 2024 through a partnership between Knowles-Carter and Moët Hennessy, the luxury wine and spirits division of LVMH. The brand is named in honor of Knowles-Carter’s paternal great-grandfather, Davis Hogue, who reportedly made moonshine during the Prohibition era.

“I’ve always been drawn to the power and confidence I feel when drinking quality whisky and wanted to invite more people to experience that feeling,” Beyoncé said at the time. Upon launch in 2024, Beyonce shared a letter to Hogue on the company website.

"I feel you in the landscapes. Your laughter rolling in the rye. What songs did you sing? What gaps did you fill? Great-grandfather, did you dream of me? Your legacy is a force that drives me." She added:  "For you, I raise my glass to legacy."
