Keke Palmer and SZA’s 'One Of Them Days' a Major Box Office Success

The Issa Rae-produced film came in ahead of expectations, making $14.2 million over its four-day opening.

One of Them Dayshas had multiple great days at the box office for its opening this past MLK weekend — so much so that it gave Disney’s Mufasasome competition.

It was even in a “dead-heat with Mufasa” during the first three days it was out, the outlet noted. However, the Disney film, which is directed by Barry Jenkins and stars Beyoncé, Blue Ivy Carter and Donald Glover, took the top spot, earning an estimated $15.5 million.

Finishing behind Mufasaand One of Them Dayswas Wolf Man, a reboot of 1941’s The Wolf Man, at No. 3. According to Variety, Wolf Manwas supposed to best both of the films, with the outlet reporting it was expected to open to $17 million to $21 million, compared to One of Them Days’ forecasted $8 million to $13 million.

However, that didn’t end up being the case, with Wolf Mangetting an estimated $12.5 million for its four-day opening, according to the Reporter.

The success of One of Them Daysadds to what is sure to be a notable year for SZA, with the S.O.S.singer embarking on a tour with former fellow TDE labelmate Kendrick Lamar that begins in April and concludes in June.

If you somehow missed the film while it was in theaters, as of March 31 you can catch One of Them Daysstreaming on Netflix. The week the movie released to Netlix, SZA managed to have both the number one streaming movie on the app as well as the number one song on Billboard's Hot 100 for "Luther," with a little help from Kendrick Lamar's Super Bowl halftime show boost.
