Juvenile is sharing a little bit about his history with Eminem and 50 Cent. The former Hot Boy says he’s responsible for 50 landing his initial deal with Em’s Shady Records. In an interview with Nyla Symone, Juve explained how after 50’s infamous near-fatal shooting, the industry basically turned on him.
“I got 50 Cent his record deal with Eminem,” Juvenile explained. “Ask 50, he’ll tell you, yeah, Juve was the one. 50 couldn’t really go to the studio at the time, and I was one of the first cats with a studio bus, so I let him record on my bus, him, [Tony] Yayo, and [Lloyd] Banks.”
Juve said that Eminem invited him to a D12 music video shoot in New York City, and that he brought along former G-Unit president Sha Money XL along.
“When I went over there with Sha Money, my first thing was telling him the type of music Em doing and the type of music 50 doing with the diss thing… that’s going to work if he go with him. And it worked,” Juvenile explained.
He also shared that 50 even wrote about Juve’s role in the signing in one of 50’s books.
50 Cent would release his debut album Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ in 2003 and go on to megastardom both as a solo artist and with his G-Unit crew.
As for Juve, he recently took part in the Cash Money and No Limit Verzuz battle in Los Angeles. Fans raved about his performance during the showdown, which was held at ComplexCon in Las Vegas. Verzuz became a phenomenon during the quarantine days of the COVID-19 pandemic. The series rose to prominence, featuring matchups like SWV vs. Xscape, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony vs. Three Six Mafia, RZA vs. DJ Premier and KRS-One vs. Big Daddy Kane, and Jeezy vs. Gucci Mane.
The Cash Money/No Limit Verzuz marked the series's first event in 3 years.
