The Los Angeles Dodgers took home another World Series title after a thrilling seven-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays. To celebrate the big win, major sportswear brands like Nike immediately began rolling out their advertisements congratulating the Dodgers' players on their respective rosters. Nike also decided to take an unsubtle shot at Toronto native and Blue Jays fan Drake – following Drizzy trolling Dodgers players in the days leading up to the game.
Nike's 30-second short film is called "LA Loves a Sequel," and it pays homage to the movie industry. The ad congratulated the Dodgers – formatted to resemble ending credits for a movie – while Kendrick Lamar’s song "Squabble Up” plays. Obviously, Lamar is a Los Angeles native who Drake sparred with over the majority of 2024.
Also after the big win, the Dodgers shared a group photo of players and staff wearing “World Series Champions” shirts with a caption of “THEY STILL NOT LIKE US.”
Drake routinely trolled the Dodgers throughout the World Series – as well as their star player, Shohei Ohtani. After Game 5, Drake shared a picture of the pitcher wearing a sweater vest and wrote, “ONE MORE!!!!!!!,” then he posted a photo of the Jays’ Trey Yesavage striking out Ohtani: “Savage already [on the way] to the dugout boss lol.”
He was alsoat Game 6 on Friday, Oct. 31.
After the Blue Jays clinched the win in Game 7, Champagne Papi posted on Instagram: “Congrats to the Jays for a dream season and a legendary World Series fight!!!”
