Following news that a Boondocksreboot is in the works with original creator Aaron McGruder, a preview of Huey Freeman's new design for the show's return has been shared.

The image, which comes from the verified Instagram account @boondocksbootleg, shows Huey with his signature afro while also sporting a more modern look and design, wearing a windbreaker, camo pants, and boots.

The Boondocks reboot was announced as a part of shows and films Sony Pictures Animation will be releasing in 2020 and beyond. According to Katie Baron, one of Sony Pictures Animation’s vice presidents, the reboot will be a re-imagining of the original, focused on "the battles of the Freeman family against the evil local government tyrant Uncle Ruckus, who rules fictional Woodcrest County Maryland, with an iron fist."

In a previous interview, McGruder had hinted at bringing the show back, saying that "It’s close" to returning.
