Netflix Picks Up New Scripted Series Starring Rev. Run & His Wife Justine Simmons

Rev Run is headed back to TV

Throughout the mid-2000s, Run-D.M.C.'s Reverend Run was a pivotal person in pop culture. He was the star of the popular reality series Run's House, which ran from 2005 to 2009 on MTV.

The Rev. is on his way back to TV. Netflix has just picked up an untitled comedy series starring Rev. Run Simmons and his wife, Justine Simmons. The scripted show, which will have an initial ten-episode run, is about an aging legendary rapper who is trying to support his ambitious wife.

This will be the couple's first attempt at a scripted show.

What's interesting about this show is that ABC, the home of Blackish, had dibs on the series first. The network got hold of the script, which was written by The Mayor and Speechless creator Jeremy Bronson, in October 2016, but they then passed on picking up the show.
