Nas, 50 Cent & More Give AZ His Flowers in New Documentary

On Wednesday, a first trailer for 'Jewels, Gems & Treasures' was released. Featuring Nas and 50 Cent, the film will chronicle the life of AZ.

The legacy of AZ will be unpacked in new documentary Jewels, Gems & Treasures. On Wednesday, fans of the Brooklyn rapper were treated with a surprise trailer, with cameos from Nas, 50 Cent, Buckwild and EMI executive Daniel Glass, who signed AZ to his first record deal. The documentary is also titled after AZ's 2015 book.

“AZ would say some slippery shit,” 50 says in the trailer.

“He created a lane for himself," Nas added. "He didn’t want to go where anybody else went, where I went, where this guy went.”

"Never did I think that Nas being signed was an open door for me to get on. We both laughed–the next thing you know we [were] on the Illmatic promo tour," AZ explained.

“A lot of cats that I know from around the world look at AZ like, ‘Yo, he’s one of the coldest rappers ever,'” Buckwild says in the trailer.

Jewels, Gems & Treasures will also explain the backstory to AZ being signed to his first deal without a demo and his classic verse on "Life's A Bitch" on Nas' 1994 debut album Illmatic. The documentary's trailer also features references to AZ made in verses from Dr. Dre, Eminem and JAY-Z.

After debuting on "Life's A Bitch", AZ's debut album Doe or Die was released on EMI in 1995. He later joined Foxy Brown, Nas, and Nature (who replaced former member Cormega) in rap supergroup The Firm.

The announcement of Jewels, Gems & Treasures comes nearly exactly six months after Doe or Die II, the 17-track long-awaited sequel to AZ's debut album. The album features appearances from Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, 2 Chainz, Conway the Machine, Dave East and more.
