
HBO Renews 'A Black Lady Sketch Show' for a Second Season

With two episodes left in its inaugural season, Robin Thede's A Black Lady Sketch Show is already slated for a follow-up.
According to Variety, HBO announced the show's renewal in a statement from Executive Vice President of Programming, Amy Gravitt. "We had a blast making this groundbreaking sketch show with Robin, Dime and all of the writers and producers, and I can’t wait to see what next season holds," Gavitt says. She adds, "It’s been thrilling to see the audience embrace the characters that Robin, Ashley, Gabrielle and Quinta have brought to life."
A Black Lady Sketch Show has critically lauded throughout its freshman season and gathered comedy greats of all eras for guest appearances. The first season has featured cameos from David Alan Grier, Lena Waithe, Angela Bassett, Laverne Cox, and Larry Wilmore, amongst others. It's executive produced by Thede, along with Deniese Davis and Montrel McKay of Issa Rae Productions.
