For Bruno Mars fans, the wait is almost over. The chart-topping singer-songwriter hasn’t released a solo album in a decade, but Mars posted an X update letting everyone know his new album is finished.
“My album is done,” he tweeted.
Mars’ previous album, 24K Magic, was a blockbuster R&B project. The 2016 classic was inspired by the new jack swing sounds of the late 1980s and early 1990s. It would go on to win seven Grammys, including Album of the Year at the 2017 Grammy Awards.
Of course, Mars hasn’t been idle since 24K Magic. In 2021, Mars and Anderson .Paak released the ’70s funk and soul-inspired An Evening With Silk Sonic, and the project netted the pair four Grammys. He collaborated with BLACKPINK’s Rosé on “APT” in 2024. That same year, he worked with Lady Gaga on “Die With a Smile” and teamed with Sexyy Red last year for “Fat Juicy & Wet.”
And “APT” could land Mars another Grammy.
“This is tricky for me because I feel like we won [already],” Mars told Billboard in December. “The Grammys and any awards show, it’s a tricky situation, and you never know. But for me, the fact that this little idea turned into what it is and two artists got together and put it out and we weren’t crazy and people did love it, that’s it. That’s when it’s done. Did you do it or you didn’t? That’s the win. I’m not trying to be political, but that’s the truth, so anything else is a bonus. We get a chance to get dressed up and go have fun, and me and Rosie get to hang out at the Grammys. But you can’t tell me that we didn’t win already.”
