'Black Panther: The Album' Debuts At No. 1 On Billboard

Black Panther racks up another win.

Alongside a smash box-office opening weekend where Marvel's Black Panther racked in $387 million dollars globally, the film's soundtrack has also debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.

The soundtrack album curated by Kendrick Lamar and TDE’s CEO Anthony Tiffith garnered 154,000 album equivalent units in its first week, with 52,000 of those being traditional album sales.

In terms of total units earned, it's the biggest week for a soundtrack in a year-and-a-half. The last soundtrack to score a larger week was Suicide Squad: The Album, which topped he Aug. 27, 2016-dated list with 182,000 units earned.

Black Panther is also Lamar’s fourth album in a row to debut at No. 1— following his 2015 To Pimp a Butterfly, 2016’s untitled unmastered., and 2017’s DAMN.

Black Panther: The Album was released Feb. 9 through Top Dawg/Aftermath/Interscope Records.
