’N.A.I.S’ offers a more comprehensive impression into his multi-layered style. Setting the scene with single ‘Jaybo’, characterised by its deep rooted guitar groove, swirling percussive moments and drawled out vocals - its the sound of an astral traveller finally finding his feet. His influences stretch out into the worlds of minimal and congested ethereal soundscapes crossed with hard grooves and tight melodies.
Hezekiah x Soul Pete & Bodziers - Raw Road
Hezekiah teams with Soul Pete and Bodziers on the forthcoming Raw Road project. The 7-track project is slated to arrive March 23rd via Begin Again Music, but with four tracks available to stream there’s no time like the present to get a jump on this. Besides, Hez is with the smoke.
Brooklyn Shanti - Missed America (La Crisis)
Broadcasting live from The Medina, Brooklyn Shanti’s Missed America is a true school hip-hop and bhangra inflected gem. The 14-track project, which landed at the top of the year, is an open letter to the United States of America that implores the nation to take an honest look at itself and its treatment of immigrants, in particular.
DB Bantino - 5 In The Valley
DB Bantino follows a healthy co-sign from Scott Storch, the 2017 Zoey Dollaz collaborative track “Bad Tings,” and his latest single “In My Trap” with the 5 In The Valley EP. The 14-track release is a bold, trap-heavy statement from the D.C. native that features appearances from Cap 1 and Lil Duke.
Diamond Media - In Loving Memory of DJ Devastate
Diamond Media follows the untimely passing of Counterweight Records co-founder and Sweden’s own DJ Devastate with a playlist tribute.
The Hip-Hop world lost a true soldier last Tuesday, March 6th with the untimely and tragic passing of Per Ronge, p/k/a DJ Devastate. The life of the gifted producer and deejay/turntablist ended far too soon at just 35 years of age, and only a day after he returned home to Sweden from a DJ gig and radio appearance in London. Known by his friends and family for his unyielding loyalty, Devastate was a uniquely beautify soul who used music as a vehicle to touch lives and bring people together. Rest in peace, Devastate, your spirit and your music will live on forever.
