Wood Ox – Imaginary Throne
Husband and wife duo Anthony and Sumandhi Fox combine as Wood Ox for the release of their synth-driven, eight-track Imaginary Throne album. The project finds them exploring a bevy of styles from hip-hop and jazz to nu-soul and electronic.
Imaginary Throne is an eclectic amalgamation of future funk, Dilla-esque instrumentals and experimental electronic compositions which spans the spectrum of Wood Ox’s creative output since their previous release Uncharted Territory. Analogue synth is the thread of continuity which ties the pieces together into a cohesive collection

FR333 – TH3 BODY
Oakland duo FR33 tackles a host of topics in the span of four tracks, from love to trauma and healing on TH3 MIND follow-up TH3 BODY.
TH3 BODY is a follow up to their first project, TH3 MIND. Listeners may be familiar with XOA’s synth-heavy, atmospheric instrumentals and MADlines’ sultry wordplay, but what this EP does differently is solidify the duo’s unique sound, all while addressing some tough content. TH3 BODY is the perfect soundtrack to reclaiming one’s divinity, especially in a world hell bent on breaking us down.

Jay Stone – Calibration Of An Altered Mind
Bay Area rapper Jay Stone kicked off November with a twelve-track doozy titled Calibration Of An Altered Mind.
This album is the process of acknowledging your conditioning and indoctrination of societal ideologies and beliefs, the eradication of these misconceptions and skewed perceptions, and the purging of an array of emotions thru the recollection of events. We are all programmed during our adolescence, and very few of us acknowledge it. Many of us aren’t aware of the mass amount of research and development paired with “generational fearmongering” that shapes our world view. It cripples our subconscious with advertising, religion, and inhumane acts of violence. Societies’ number one tool to control you is fear …once they have you full of fear they can dictate the way you think, and therefore strip you of your “free-will”. This album is the calibration of MY altered mind, based on the experiences and thoughts that race thru my conscious and subconscious minds.

Slim Rummy – The Ch.Ills
Billed as “eight tracks that infuse authentic lines with original production meant to set in a relaxed tone to end the year,” Slim Rummy’s The Ch.ills is a lyrically dense project balanced by choice soul samples. Slim’s presence conjures Odd Future’s brooding heavyweights and the slick-talking street editorial of rappers like Rahiem Supreme and LE$.

Diamonn Gurr – Witness
Night Swim Records co-founder Diamonn Gurr challenges the status quo with the 17th release for the label titled Witness.
Witness” is, to its core, the struggle to understand one’s self identity and self happiness in such a divided world. What does it mean to be an American? There are staggeringly different answers to that question. Unfortunately, the America I have grown up in is not an accurate representation of the trials, ignorance, segregation and hate so many others have come to know as every day life. I have been a silent witness for far too long, saying little to nothing when confronted with blatant hate. I want to be the verb, not the noun.
