K.A.A.N. and executive producer Damu The Fudgemunk pull inspiration from the 90s while packing plenty of heat into Subtle Meditation, which boasts production from Smuff The Quiz, K-Def and The 45 King.
Following 2016's Uncommon Knowledge and 2017's Abstractions, K.A.A.N. strikes again with his third release on vinyl. Entitled Subtle Meditation, the full length boasts 13 thought provoking tracks. The seasoned rapper explores subjects far and wide, including America's social climate, striving for success, colonialism, dealing with failure, depression, anxiety, creative passion and self destruction to name a few. Topics so relevant are guaranteed that in any moment or place in the world, people in bars, cafes, dinner tables and social media feeds are engaging in identical discussions. No matter what side of the spectrum you fall on, starting dialogue is most important when looking for solutions.
Domo Genesis unplugs from the matrix and looks inward on the six-track follow-up to Aren’t U Glad You’re U. The Facade Records EP produced by Mike & Keys features appearances from Buddy, Cozz, Chip The Ripper, and IDK.

Amerigo Gazaway imagines what a recording from Lauryn Hill and Nina Simone might sound like with the latest from his Soul Mates collaborative series titled The Miseducation of Eunice Waymon.
“Soul Mates’ “collaborations that never were” enters new territory with a now familiar deft and verve, this time highlighting intergenerational conjurings between two black women cultural workers from the civil rights and hip-hop generations. With Nina Simone and Lauryn Hill seated together at the table, collaboration transforms into vivid conversation, call and response, and a call to action--private, personal, and public--across space, time, and realm.

Bag season begins with the arrival of a dusty, underground gem from NOLA’s own Wino Willy titled Paper Bags. The partially self-produced seven-track offering also boasts tracks from AFKA and friendkerrek.

Chicago producer Spectacular Diagnostics teams with a who’s who of underground spitters on the twelve-track Raw Studies tape featuring Chris Crack, Al.Divino, Estee Nack, Sleep Sinatra, Ankhlejohn, Flashius Clayton and more. DeeplyRootedHipHop.com describes the tape as:
“With his latest offering, Raw Studies, the beats are original and unorthodox, yet melodic and rhythmically fulfilling. Spectacular Diagnostics recruits all the hitters for this project, each emcee a force in the current underground revival.”

The Alchemist follows the Earl Sweatshirt-assisted single “E-Coli” with the Bread EP featuring Black Thought, Roc Marciano, Conway and Westside Gunn. The eight-track release also packs a handful of instrumentals for the spitter in you.

UK producer Snips returns with the third release from his Barbershop Records imprint titled Tomorrow’s Breakfast. His fourth project of the year, the boom-bap revival is a clinic in sampling that should speak to the hearts of true heads.
