First of all: I hope primary season isn't getting the best of you. Unless, of course, you're one of those that'll comprise the roughly 30% of Americans voting within the next week. In which case, you give that ballot your all, damnit. For the rest of us left to stew in collective Super Tuesday anxiety, we can at least find a sliver of solace in knowing it's Release Day. Which means there's a fresh haul of drops to comb through.
The loop is sacred on Vic Spencer and August Fanon's Psychological Cheat Sheet. Ant Clemons cooks with a hit-making dream team on his debut album, HAPPY 2 BE HERE. Terrace Martin slips into an electric pop mood on his latest project, Sinthesize. Suff Daddy reclaims a sector of the crowding lo-fi terrain with his expansive and entrancing, Pompette. And Young Nudy's Anyways is a kush-crushed follow-up to his 2019 breakout, Sli'merre.
Filling out the rotation, this week's singles campaign is a barrel-chested batch. Aminé's "Shimmy" is a rugged and raw return from the mad-rapping Portland artist. Liv.e's "LazyEaterBetsOnHerLikeness" is another hazy, high-minded meditation from the Dallas- transplant's upcoming album. RMR's "RASCAL" is a reminder that Lil Nas X's impact will be felt for generations of country music artists. And Shabazz Palaces' "Fast Learner" is a warm and washed-out wonder. But that's just half the script.
