"The Best Superhero Movie I've Ever Seen:" ‘The Flash’ Gets Strong First Reactions

During CinemaCon on Tuesday, The Flash was presented to movie theater owners and critics, many who raved over the upcoming film.

The Flash stole the show during CinemaCon this week. On Tuesday (April 25), attendees got an early premiere of the upcoming DC Studios film, which comes to theaters on June 16. While the Ezra Miller-led film generated buzz throughout the convention, a screening was held towards the end of the presentation, where Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav revealed that he’d watched it three times. “It’s the best superhero movie I’ve ever seen,” he said, per The Hollywood Reporter.

Director Andy Muschietti also praised Miller for balancing drama and comedy in the long-awaited superhero film. “I discovered they are an incredible comedian and also [handled] all the action required for a big spectacle like this. They wanted to do all the stunts, and I let them,” Muschietti said.

The film shows Miller starring as dual versions of protagonist Barry Allen, while a multiverse of Batmans also appear, including Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton. Michael Shannon reprises his role of General Zod from 2013’s Man of Steel while Sashe Calle joins as Supergirl.

A second The Flash trailer was also shared, showing Keaton returning as the caped crusader for the first time since 1992’s Batman Returns.

“I lost my parents,” Keaton’s Bruce Wayne says in narration, at the trailer’s opening. “That pain made me who I am. I spent a lifetime trying to right the wrongs of the past, as if fighting crime would bring my parents back. You actually did it.”

The film comes after a controversial 2022 for Miller, who was arrested multiple times throughout the year, but would later apologize for their behavior and say they would receive help for their “complex mental health issues.” At the time, DC Studios was considering recasting or canceling The Flash.
