Summer Walker and Friends Celebrate Soft Life on New EP

J. Cole and Childish Gambino appear on new Summer Walker EP Clear 2: Soft Life, while Solange and Steve Lacy co-produce closing track “Agayu’s Revelation.”

Summer Walker basks in light grooves on her new EP, Clear 2: Soft Life. The EP marks Walker’s latest project since her 2021 sophomore album Still Over It. Officially declaring next season a “Soft Life Summer,” at midnight, Walker dropped a music video for “Pull Up,” which co-stars her boyfriend and BMF actor Demetrius "Lil Meech" Flenory Jr.

At nine tracks in total, the EP begins with a message from J. Cole, who hosted Walker as an act during last month’s Dreamville Festival in North Carolina. While performing, Walker announced Clear 2, and Cole returned the favor on EP opener “To Summer, From Cole.” On the track, Cole promises his long-awaited album The Fall Off. “I find it amazing the way that you juggle your kids, the biz, the fame/ The bitches that’s hatin’, they sit around waitin’ for you to fall off, like the album I’m makin',” he raps.

The EP, a sequel to 2019’s Clear also features Childish Gambino (“New Type”), while Solange and Steve Lacy co-produced the final song “Agayu’s Revelation.” The track could be a leftover from Solange’s 2019 album When I Get Home, on which Lacy co-produced the Gucci Mane-assisted track “My Skin My Logo.” The year prior, Solange told Billboard that she had been “jamming” with the Gemini Rights artist.

For Mother’s Day weekend, Walker – a mother of three – performed at Mary J. Blige’s second annual Strength of A Woman Festival & Summit in Atlanta.
