A couple of weeks ago, Prince's sister Tyka Nelson revealed something that was jarring; she told theLondon Evening Standard that purple wasn't his favorite color. She told the publication that it was orange: "it is strange because people always associate the color purple with Prince, but his favorite color was actually orange.

On Thursday, Prince's half-sister Sharon Nelson spoke to the Associated Press. She said that contrary to what has been said, purple was and is Princes color.

Nelson want on to say that Prince was fond of many colors in the rainbow, he especially loved the color purple because it represented royalty...the color purple always made him feel Princely.

So...what's the correct answer? We still don't really know, which is actually perfect.

Earlier this month, A shade of purple named for Prince was announced. The hue was created by the Pantone Color Institute and is known as Love Symbol #2. The color is paying tribute to his Yamaha piano and the period of his career when he was just a symbol.
