LeBron James Files Cease-and-Desist Against Pregnant Deepfake AI Images
The NBA superstar is taking action after graphic AI-generated images began making the rounds on social media platforms.
LeBron James is fighting back against AI-generated online abuse.
404 Media reports“The creators of an A.I. tool and Discord community that allowed people to create AI videos of NBA stars say that it got a cease-and-desist letter from lawyers representing LeBron James," reported 404 Media. "High-profile creators there were racking up millions of views on Instagram making AI-generated videos of James and Steph Curry. These included videos where an AI-generated James stood by as an AI-generated Diddy sexually assaulted Curry in prison, videos of James cut imagined as a homeless person, videos of James on his knees with his tongue out, and videos of James pregnant."
Meta owns Instagram, and the company has declined to say whether it has received legal correspondence from LeBron’s lawyers. But Instagram began removing offending content and accounts. According to the site, at least three Instagram accounts. There’s no indication of what will be done about deepfakes on the platform going forward.
