DJ Scratch Talks Rare Vinyl, Death Defying Sets & Jam Master Jay On Crate Diggers

DJ Scratch takes viewers through his vinyl collection and breaks down his feelings about rare records, chronicles his earliest days in hip-hop and pays tribute to his mentor Jam Master Jay in this edition of Crate Diggers. DJ Scratch details how he got on with EPMD and what it was like to pay dues as an up and coming selector; eating at venues and sleeping in tour buses are amongst the humbling experiences he faced while cutting his teeth on the road with Run-D.M.C. and Public Enemy. His time with the group and his massive talent as a DJ became the impetus for Jam Master Jay to take Scratch under his wing. Scratch pays tribute to Jay with a shrine made of plaques and shell-toes. Getting back to the vinyl, he shows off a few test pressings and acetate recordings, including an ultra-rare super secret Michael Jackson record. Check the footage below to get the full story from DJ Scratch in the latest episode of Crate Diggers.
