Dan Aykroyd On The Time James Brown Met Bill Murray + 'Get On Up' International Trailer

James Brown's legacy is not one we take lightly over here. So when the comedic genius of Dan Aykroyd (one of the stars of the upcoming Get On Up biopic) lets loose a few gems on The Godfather on The Tonight Show, we're all ears. Last Friday the Ghostbuster formerly known as Ray told some hilarious tales of his experiences with Brown after bringing the legendary Bobby Rushout to perform his hit "I'll Go Crazy" with The Roots in tow, including the time he and Bill Murray crossed paths at a car rental location. Aykroyd explained that he and Murray were getting ready to rent a jeep for some desert adventures, when they ran into a displeased Mr. Dynamite on the lot.

Aykroyd worked his magic in the office to get The Godfather a discount on a pretty Benz that Mrs. Brown had her eye on, explaining to the manager exactly who he was. After which, Murray took the time to comment on Brown's outfit (naturally a jumpsuit, even at that age) in the voice of his universally-adored Caddyshack persona Carl. Brown didn't take too kindly to that, but honestly, we're dealing with two characters that "don't know karate, but (certainly) do know crazy." Then Jimmy hit em with a story about when James advised Eddie Murphy to hide his money where even he doesn't know where it is. Its classic Godfather and Ghostbustin-ass Bill Murray for your minds. Watch the interview, Aykroyd's performance and a new international trailer for Get On Up below. The biopic hits theaters next Friday August 1st.
