On the latest episode of Mass Appeal's Rhythm Roulette, Sango does his damndest with three randomly selected records and an arsenal of J Dilla's hallmark drum sounds.
Pulling from Splice's recently released sample pack, the Seattle-via-Grand-Rapids producer rifles through his haul from Holy Cow Records, and quickly gets to work. Settling on the soulful soundtrack to Richard Pryor's 1978 film, Blue Collar, and the late-80s gospel flair of Countess Cathleen, Sango stitches a pair of breakneck suites together with effortless proficiency, and even shares some of his golden rules of production ("Don't overthink your drums.")
Recently, the producer appeared on an episode of Sama’an Ashrawi's The Nostalgia Mixtape podcast, where he discussed his earliest influences and teased a grip of unreleased Daft Punk remixes. He dropped his sophomore studio album, In The Comfort Of at the top of 2018 via Last Gang Records.
