Although Will Smith has recently found himself becoming a social media star through Instagram, it looks like the actor may be plotting a YouTube takeover as well.
On Wednesday, Smith released a video on his YouTube account detailing the one and only time he met Michael Jackson. Although he doesn’t give a date, Will Smith recalls that the meeting happened at the BET Awards.
“I see [Michael] and he’s across the room and I’m like ‘A path! I’m about to meet Mike,'” Smith said. However, the opportunity was missed when a frenzy broke out, and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star was placed in a utility closet. The disturbance was apparently caused by Death Row Records co-founder Suge Knight, which is why Smith was placed into the closet.
However, Smith wasn’t alone. As the noise outside began to quiet down, the actor heard someone’s voice coming from behind him.
“I hear, ‘Hey,’…and I turn around and Michael Jackson is behind me in the closet,” Smith recalled.
The Ali star then recounted the two’s brief conversation, where they talked about Knight “trippin'” and comic books.
“I don’t know anything about no comic books but I’m here with Michael Jackson, I ain’t gonna tell him that,” Smith said.
The pair’s conversation was cut short when Jackson’s bodyguard came into the closet and grabbed him, completely disregarding Smith in the process. Luckily, someone had snapped a photo of the encounter between Smith, Jackson and Jackson’s bodyguard (humorously referred to as “Never saw Fresh Prince”), which the actor shows at the end of the video.
