Bishop Nehru and MF DOOM have linked up yet again. This time, DOOM provides the beat and a verse for "MEATHEAD." The track will appear on Nehru's Nehruvia: My Disregarded Thoughts project.
The two MCs previously collaborated on the NehruvianDoom project in 2014. In 2018, DOOM produced the second act of Nehru's ELEVATORS: Act I and II album. Kaytranada produced the first half of the project. Nehru's become somewhat of a protege for DOOM in recent years. The inspiration for the upcoming project comes from a vision Nehru had in middle school.
"I knew I wanted to make a concept record about what it takes to free yourself from mental enslavement," he said. "The plan was to make something that showed real vulnerability and was, like, the polar opposite of masking how I felt."
"DOOM just kept telling me to stop overthinking things," Nehru said in a statement. "And that I needed to use my own intuition more. He taught me how to really embody the music and feel it deep inside my stomach."
In the video, the animated MCs interfere with a bank robbery, eventually speeding away in a van reminiscent of the A-Team. London-based illustrator Olly Frostie produced the video.
My Disregarded Thoughts features production from DJ Premier. Three tracks from the album are already available for purchase on Bishop Nehru's Bandcamp page.
