More than any other in recent memory, this week really was devoted to the art of the remix. Between Knxwledge's Yes Lawd recalibration, Pomo's Hall & Oates update and Mndsgn's boogie-blessed edit of a spacey Washed Out cut, there was no shortage of frequencies flipped.
But those are just the top of the pile. Dam-Funk turned in a synth-struck remix of Todd Rundgren's "I Got Your Back," while Hanni El Khatib' s "Paralyzed" arrived in mobile, footwork-friendly form. Elsewhere, The Paul Institute finally proved enrollment's worth, delivering Jai Paul's first on-record appearance in years, and proper introductions to a pair of new talents from the mysterious UK incubator.
Add those to new projects from Talib Kweli, Jaden Smith, Madlib and Tame Impala, and you've got quite a bit to catch up on as we slip into the weekend. Naturally, we've assembled standout selections and deep album cuts from the week's release in a new installment of The Round-Up.
Hear it all below and hold tight for the next episode.
