The Listening: New Veeze, Latto and Ice Spice Team-Up and More
This week’s new music Friday also features Saigon, Miguel, Ice Cube and Statik Selektah.
September has rolled around, so everyone is getting ready for fall and football. The wind down towards the cooler months is kicking off, but dope music is showing no signs of slowing down.
This week, we get the team-up their fans wouldn’t have expected not so long ago, as Latto and Ice Spice join forces for their new single, “Gyatt.” We also get new heat from Kirko Bangz, as Saigon and superproducer Buckwild take it back to the essence.
Statik Selektah drops his collaborative album with Wais P and The Musalini, plus there’s Drake and PND’s flip of “Somebody Loves Me” with Cash Cobain and “New Martyrs (Ride 4 U),” the latest single from Miguel.

The O.G. picking apart the idea that hip hop is to blame for society’s problems. The West Coast godfather drops the lead single from his upcoming album, Man Up — the follow-up to last year’s Man Down.
GRXWN FXLKS - “GET TO WORK”
Masai Turner and producer/DJ Akil Esoon have a partnership rooted in lyricism, soulful production, and “grown folks” hip-hop. Their new single features contributions from DJ Qbert and Daru Jones.
VEEZE - “L.O.A.T.”
Veeze returns with another slyly stylish new single. His season approaches.
KIRKO BANGZ - “EVERYTHING OFF CREDIT”
After dropping Choose Self this past May, he follows it with this ode to staying financially and creatively independent. And he’s set to headline Live Nation Urban's Black on the Block Festival in Houston.
ISAIAH FALLS FEAT. SIR - “BROWN SUGAH”
Fusing the essence of classic soul with a modern sheen. The rising R&B star teams with Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter SiR for his latest; a slice of timeless R&B that further affirms his reputation as one of the genre’s most captivating new voices.
DESS DIOR FEAT. BJRNCK - “IDC”
The Atlanta star drops her newest single, featuring singer-songwriter BJRNCK. Keeping it GA with an inspired flip of “So What,” Ciara’s 2006 hit with Field Mob, it’s a nod to her ATL background.
FREDO BANG - “TRAUMATIZED CHILD”
The Louisiana native delivers his latest. Fredo’s new joint is an unflinching portrait of survival and pain; the song is a forerunner to his highly anticipated EP, Kreature Muzik.
EGO ELLA MAY - “WHAT WE DO”
Co-produced by South London vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and producer Wu-Lu, the new single from the award-winning British-Nigerian singer-songwriter and musician is an upbeat groove with soul.
LATTO AND ICE SPICE - “GYATT”
What beef? The two rap divas put aside any lingering bad blood for a new collab that proves that any animosity is squarely behind them. But will their fans accept it?
BELLY GANG KUSHINGTON FEAT. YKNIECE - “FRIEND DO” (REMIX)
The ATL-born-and-bred rapper drops the official remix of his single — an upbeat record that is bound to become a club hit, with an assist from YKNIECE.
RICH AMIRI - “IN & OUT”
“Rage rap” never sounded so melodic. Rich drops his follow-up to “Paranoid”—and it serves as the lead-up to his highly anticipated new album, Grit & Grace.
PARTY OF 2 - “FRIENDLY FIRE”
Following the success of their song “POSER” — which reached over 10 million streams — the pair drops one of their hottest tracks to date. It’s also a preview of what to expect on their just-announced debut album.
ILHAM - “FOR ME”
The eclectic artist out of Queensbridge teams with the GRAMMY-nominated R&B hitmaker for some new dopeness. And ilham’s debut is finally on the way.
REUBEN VINCENT AND 9TH WONDER - “GOTTA GET IT”
Bringing it all back home to North Carolina. The duo has officially announced that their collaborative album Welcome Home will be released in October.
CAPPADONNA - “ANOTHER DOSE”
The Wu swordsman is gearing up for a powerful return. And he’s dropping at the right time — this year has seen a moment of renewed energy for the Wu-Tang Clan.
MIGUEL - “NEW MARTYRS (RIDE 4 U)”
It had been almost a year since his last single. The singer-songwriter had his fanbase giddy after he made the official announcement that his long-awaited new album is due to drop in October.

These two stalwarts of the underground scene are set to drop their collaborative album — an ambitious and expansive 20-track project. Cali represented well by two of the Golden State’s best.

The Canadian artist boasts over 380 million all time global streams and a JUNO nomination. He’s established his own unique place in R&B that feels more alternative and underground.
EL SNAPPO - ‘NOT FA DA INDUSTRY’ MIXTAPE
The title says it all. With the release of his new single “Customer,” Snappo let fans know that his latest mixtape was coming.
STATIK SELEKTAH, WAIS P AND THE MUSALINI - ‘CHOOSE OR LOSE’
Statik always brings heat on collabs and this is no exception. The trifecta joins forces on this collaborative album — eight tracks including the already-released “Can A Player Live” and “Return of the Mack.”
BEN REILLY - “DON’T LOSE THE PLOT” EP
The New York native is a lyricist steeped in the tradition of classic East Coast hip-hop; and he’s one of the most gifted indie artists in the industry.
SAIGON AND BUCKWILD - ‘K.L.O.U.T.’
