President Donald Trump made an appearance at Game 5 of the World Series between the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros. It did not go as he would have liked.

Trump and First Lady Melania Trump sat in a suite behind home plate at Nationals Park in Washington DC (alongside Republican colleagues like Senator Lindsay Graham, Congressman Steve Scalise, and Congressman Matt Gaetz.)

According to Sports Illustrated, Trump was shown on the big screen during the team's salute to veterans before the fourth inning. Those in attendance can be heard booing and then yells of "lock him up" can be heard. (During the 2016 campaign, Trump and his supporters would chant "lock her up" at Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.)

According to SI, every president since William Taft in 1910 has at least thrown out one ceremonial first pitch, either during opening day or a game in the World Series. Trump broke that tradition. This was Trump's first time attending a game as president and he turned down the option to throw a pitch.

MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said he turned it down "in order to make the fan experience as positive as possible." (We imagine he turned down the option because he didn't want a 50 Cent moment.)

The Astros beating the Nationals 7-1 to takes a 3-2 lead in the World Series.
