Donald Trump on Players who Kneel During the Anthem: "Maybe You Shouldn't Be in the Country"
President Donald Trump is still stirring the pot
President Donald Trump has revealed what he thinks about the NFL’s new policy, which would penalize teams who have players that protest during the national anthem.
Unsurprisingly, he’s a fan. In fact, if it was up to Trump, he would take things even further.
On Thursday President Trump appeared on Fox’s Morning show Fox & Friends. When asked about the NFL’s new policy, this is what he said:
You have to stand proudly for the National Anthem or you shouldn’t be playing. You shouldn’t be there. Maybe you shouldn’t be in the country.
In the new rule, while players can’t protest the flag, they can choose to stay in the locker room, if they please. Speaking on that, Trump said:
Well I think that’s good. I don’t think people should be staying in locker rooms. But still I think it’s good.
This shouldn’t be surprising to anyone. At multiple times, Trump has spoken out against the protests. The White House also orchestrated a stunt where Vice President Mike Pence walked out before a San Francisco 49ers vs. Indianapolis Colts because players were protesting.
