Like Radio Raheem and his oversized boombox or Buggin Out and a scuffed pair of Jordans, Spike Lee and block parties are basically synonymous at this point.
To celebrate, the director is reviving his block party on the stretch of Stuyvesant Avenue that defined his portrayal of Brooklyn in the film (and has since been named in its honor.) From 12pm-7pm on Sunday, June 30th, Lee will host a free event that is open to the public between Lexington and Quincy. Details are still pretty thin as to what we can expect. Past commemorations of Michael Jackson and Prince have featured expertly curated musical performances and random appearances from Black Star, Erykah Badu, and Dave Chappelle. Sadly, no Sal's, though.
