Russell Simmons Has Put an End to His Ill-Advised #NotMe Campaign

Russell Simmons will not be going forward with his ill-advised #NotMe campaign

After thirteen women accused Russell Simmons of multipleforms of sexual misconduct including rape, attempted rape, and sexual harassment the mogul started his own campaign called #NotMe. Simmons started the campaign so he could try and prove his innocence.

He was immediately blasted for the campaign, mainly because the hashtag was similar to the #MeToo hashtag survivors of sexual assault have been using.

Now, according to Page Six, Simmons has put a stop to the campaign. His reps told Page Six that this is a time for women to speak.

Simmons has been relatively quiet since the December 14th Instagram post announcing his #NotMe campaign. On that post, he wrote: "Today, I begin to properly defend myself. I will prove without any doubt that I am innocent of all rape charges."

Simmons' last post came on December 19th. He posted a meme saying "God is Working on Me."
