The Round-Up: Best Songs of The Week - ft. ROSALÍA, MadGibbs, BJ The Chicago Kid, and More [Playlist]
Summer’s heating up in a hurry.
Good day, good people. Following last week’s onslaught of big-ticket drops, Release Day’s tapered down a bit. Just enough to cool off before the sun enters a ruthless rhythm.
The list of long-plays is light, but not weightless. Denzel Curry swings for the fences on his third studio album, ZUU. And Raveena’s debut full-length, Lucid, is here to offset the steel-toed bars with honeyed r&b notes and an immutable tenderness.
On the singles side, there’s plenty to hold you over. Freddie Gibbs and Madlib finally announced the release date of their anxiously awaited reconnection with the warm and wickedly wonderful, “Crime Pays.” ROSALÍA stepped to the forefront of pop’s upper echelon with her clap-happy heater, “Aute Cuture.” BJ The Chicago Kid reemerged with a soulful trap-laced loosie. Gucci Mane and Justin Bieber flipped Zapp & Roger’s “Computer Love” into a modern club anthem. Mndsgn served up another sun-and-synth-kissed morsel of his upcoming Snaxx tape. Of course, that’s just half the script.
