The apology came after the release of the ad you see above, featuring a woman wearing a white robe sitting on the bed with the words "White is Purity" written in bold. The ad, which was promoting their Invisible For Black & White deodorant, went up on Sunday and was pulled off of Nivea’s Middle East Facebook page by Tuesday.

After the ad was pulled, Beiersdorf, the German company that owns Nivea, released a statement where they said:
“We are deeply sorry to anyone who may take offense to this specific post. Diversity and equal opportunity are crucial values of Nivea.”
This isn't the first time Nivea has been in hot water over a racist ad. In 2011, people were furious after Nivea released an ad featuring a black man pulling off his afro with the words "Re-Civilize Yourself" written.
