Yuna Performs Acoustic Set On Hot 97 + Interview

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

Malaysian soul sister Yuna dropped by the Hot 97 studio with kalimba in hand to deliver an eclectic acoustic performance and talk about her indie roots in Malaysia's fruitful music scene. Speaking on how she came up, Yuna explained how the breadth of both indie and jazz musicians and vocalists nurtured her talents in Malaysia and helped her grow into the lilting singer and songwriter that she has become. Originally signed to FADER, Yuna's self-titled stateside debut features a compelling collaboration with Pharrell on the track "Live Your Life" and now that she's moved onto her sophomore effort, you can tell the sound and expression of her craft has matured along with her. The self-described pop musician is making big waves from the South Pacific to the states and has plenty on the horizon. Nocturnal, the follow up to last year's self-titled effort is in stores October 29th, but to hold you over we've got her interview and sultry acoustic performance for Pete Rosenberg and the Hot 97 fam below for your viewing pleasure. Don't sleep on it!
