Your Old Droog Keeps Messing With Minds On "Free Turkey"

Listen to the 'Your Old Droog' EP

Your Old Droog has been in the business of playing audible tricks on people's minds since his EP dropped last month and set the blogosphere ablaze. While the original story was that NaS had resurfaced with a Lost Tapes 2 type of release, we quickly discovered otherwise. The mysterious baritone we heard was not that of the Queensbridge bomber, but one that belonged to a Brooklyn boy that just wanted to be your droog. 4 weeks later and we're still racking our brains over the uncanny similarities between the two NY flows. But while we're at it, lets throw a few more names into the hat for comparison.

Am I the only one that hears remnants of Jay Electronica's delivery? Maybe with a grittier Game-like vox? I don't know. I'm just saying dude's got plenty of inspiration in there and despite what people may think, I don't believe he wears it on his sleeve like that. His latest release "Free Turkey" spins like an old Nasir Jones cut -- it even puts the chop on The Heath Brothers'"Smilin' Billy Suite Pt. II" of "One Love" fame -- there is something that is distinctively Droog's that bleeds out on to the track. Its the grime of New Jack City and the lightheartedness of the backpack movement in one immensely gratifying package. Stream Your Old Droog's "Free Turkey" below and be sure to keep your to ground folks, we'll have plenty more on the enigmatic Droog in the weeks and months to come.
