BEYONDOOM: Watch Yasiin Bey Go To Work Over Seven Classic MF DOOM Beats Live In France

Yasiin Bey is about as reclusive and enigmatic as a hip-hop star can get these days, outside of, say, that ol' diabolical do-it-all we know as MF DOOM. So it seems only right that Bey (formerly known as Mos Def) and metal fingers' mystical rap forces collide in some time, space or place. From the end of last December through the beginning of February, Bey quietly quietly released clips of him paying homage to the blender of special herbs live and direct from a bombed-out barrack just outside of Paris for CultureBox; something he likes to call BEYONDOOM, a video EP if you will, that finds Bey spitting DOOM's verses on a collection of Madvillainy beats and one classic Dilla joint. And I suppose we shouldn't be all too surprised, but seriously, how does something like this stay so damn hush for so long? Oh, you say the rap blogosphere would implode if it ever made its way across the pond? That former planet Pluto would spiral out of orbit and make a bee line for Earth? No, no. BEYONDOOM is just an idea that works so well it simply had to come to fruition, and in the only way Black Dante knows how; shrouded in secrecy from an undisclosed dwelling in any other country than the US. And we certainly aren't mad. Watch each and every clip down below and join us in praying for the day these joints are released , someway, somehow.
