Willis Earl Beal comes with haunting brilliance, as he is wont to do, with his newest video "Everything unwinds." For those who came late, relative newcomer Beal (signed to the Hot Charity imprint of XL Records) is an eclectic artist from Chicago that has become an intriguing enigma in the past couple years. A musician of undeniable talent, Beal trades in lyrics that sneak up on you and then refuse to leave you alone and stripped down, but deeply thoughtful sounds. We've been following him from the beginning and as he works to augment his catalog, he continues to captivate his audience with soulful, blues-inflected vocals and visuals that offer another wonderfully puzzling window into his curious mind.
"Everything unwinds." comes from his 2012 EP Principles of a Protagonist, a free project you can get from BitTorrent. He also just released a "short film actually about something" of the same name that features Beal's perfectly imperfect illustrations and takes you on a meandering walk through the words he lives by.
